ZIP File type. ZIP files are compressed using a utility called PKUNZIP, more commonly today in WinZip form. Zipping a file compresses it, making it smaller than the original for storage or transmission.
ZIP Removable storage. ZIP drives and storage media were developed by the Iomega Corporation. The ZIP100 drive (both external or internal) has a capacity of 100mb of storage on a removable disk (the equivalent of 80 floppies). New ZIP250 drives are capable of 250mb of stoarge and will read the smaller 100mb disks as well.
ZULU Military. Used to denote the letter Z in an alpha-numeric description, i.e. Zulu Charlie X-ray = ZCX. Also indicating 12am in time (zulu hour = zero hour = 12 midnight).
